And he promises that, in coming weeks, he will have an entire section devoted to local girls involved in raunchy XXX-rated action.

He has spent the past eight months clearing the decks for the launch and said yesterday: "It's a major breakthrough to at last be up and running.

"I've linked up with a quality US adult site and we went online for the first time last Monday.

"At the moment, we're screening mainly American and British porn movies, but from next month we'll be offering high-quality hardcore action featuring local girls."

The site will also offer DVDs, live chatrooms and adverts offering a range of sexual services.

Dowey (50) said the introduction of the Human Rights Act had opened the door for him to produce porn.

"Everything has changed and there are now no barriers to full-blown adult pornography.

"I've been filming for almost a year in hotels and beauty spots everywhere from Coleraine to Cork.

"The girls we'll be featuring are absolutely stunning.

"There is partner sex, wife-swapping, group sex and dogging all on camera.

"The idea that in Northern Ireland we're somehow backward or inhibited is nonsense - our girls and fellas were well up for it."

Dowey, whose operation is based in Newtownabbey, has always dabbled in the exotic market and makes no bones about his shady past that once led to a prison sentence.

"It was a long time ago, I paid the penalty, did the time, and moved on."

He has paid couples to have sex on camera but revealed: "Most are queuing up to do it for free just for the thrill of being filmed."

Dowey, who previously ran outrageous stripogram group Angels Promotions, is also examining the possibility of setting up a satellite porn channel straddling the border.

"It is something we're looking at, but at the moment we're concentrating on the internet and want to get the site fully operational as quickly as possible."
